First Stage of One of the Largest Solar Photovoltaic Facilities in the U.S. is Operational

Boise, Idaho - March 11, 2019 - The first stage of the Techren Solar Park is complete and operational. Developed by Clēnera, Techren I is a 132 MW facility located in the Eldorado Valley Energy Zone southeast of Las Vegas, and will be part of one of the largest solar parks once all five stages are fully operational.

With the help of its partners, Clēnera was able to bring clean energy to the Nevada locals through a 25-year power purchase agreement with NV Energy. Swinerton Renewable Energy provided the engineering, procurement, and construction services, while operation and maintenance is provided by First Solar. Techren I also features 350,000 advanced modules from Jinko Solar, 50 Schneider inverters, and Array trackers.

“Reliability has always been a key factor when selecting EPC’s and suppliers,” said Michael Gallego, VP of Operations at Clēnera. “It is particularly important with larger projects like Techren I that we select partners who are dependable and consistent in their work…”

Techren I is one of four solar projects that are supplying NV Energy’s customers with affordable clean energy through the NV GreenEnergy Rider Opportunity - a low-cost renewable energy opportunity for eligible customers with a demand larger than one megawatt. NV Energy currently provides all of their customers with a variety of solar, geothermal, wind, and other forms of renewable energy. The NV GreenEnergy Rider Opportunity provides even more solar energy to those larger customers that are interested in meeting their renewable energy aspirations.

“We are proud to partner with a company like NV Energy. The NV GreenEnergy Rider program aligns with Clēnera’s prioritization of providing affordable clean energy and helping utilities become clean energy leaders in their communities,” said Gallego.
