Donated Solar Panels Now Operating at Bogus Basin

Bright sunshine is even more welcome on top of the non-profit mountain, Bogus Basin, as a fresh seventy-one panel solar array on top of the rental shop delivers power for the first time.

The panels were part of a larger donation from Clēnera to Bogus Basin, you can read about that here.

The solar rooftop is expected to conservatively generate 32 MWh of electricity annually, which is enough power to cover 70% of the building's yearly consumption. Put another way, the carbon offset equals nearly 800 trips up to the mountain.

"Partnering with Bogus Basin on this and future solar projects is exciting to me, both personally and professionally. Their dedication to improving the mountain as an accessible community resource perfectly aligns with Clēnera’s drive to make America’s solar resources accessible to homes across the country. I learned to ski at Bogus Basin and have been riding the mountain bike trails since they were built, so it is exciting to be a part of this project to make operations on the mountain more sustainable." - Adam Pishl, Clēnera CEO and President

Bogus Basin has a long history of bringing renewable energy onto the mountain. Going back to 2004, volunteers and community members installed solar powered lights along 6.2km of Nordic trails. In 2023, the mountain join the National Ski Areas Association Climate Challenge, renewing its commitment to sustainability through reductions in waste and emissions. The partnership between Clēnera and Bogus Basin remains strong. We are working on adding signage near the rental shop to educate the public about solar power. The community mountain will also be the first partner agency with Clēnera's 2025 season sponsorship of the Boise Hawks baseball team, receiving proceeds from a raffle night on June 26.

The installation was possible only through the help of multiple partners. Learn more about the project and the many hands involved from the press release by Bogus Basin.
