Procurement Manager

Responsible for the organization’s procurement function and global supply chain management. Includes both strategy and tactics, competitive bid process, supplier qualifications, and contract negotiations for power-producing equipment for the development and construction of solar and battery storage projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Position may include additional functions not listed.) *

• Execute the procurement strategy, supply base strategy, and supplier strategy.  Collaborate with business partners to establish procurement priorities in alignment with business strategy.

• Identify, evaluate, select, manage and develop suppliers to achieve desired supply chain performance.  

• Lead the development of key partnerships, sourcing and contracting strategies, and procurement practices for solar project supplier selection.

• Research industry benchmark data, best practices, supply market intelligence, safe harbor strategy, and regulatory and policy impacts to procurement in order to effectively mitigate risk and meet business requirements and project commitments.

• Identify ways to create value and minimize risk, utilizing effective procurement abilities. Use negotiation tactics and strategies with internal and external customers and suppliers to optimize value.

• Manage the contracting process end-to-end, including coordinating with the legal team and negotiating complex, custom contracts for power-producing equipment (ie, solar panels, inverters, racking, modules, etc.).

• Create, evaluate, and review opportunities to implement best practice sourcing, purchasing and procurement policies and procedures.  Ensure ongoing process improvement to streamline and improve procurement practices.

• Collaborate cross-functionally and lead research into new technology around power-producing equipment for solar and battery development projects.

• Effectively address complex problems to include discussing issues with opposing views, involving appropriate stakeholders, obtaining in-depth knowledge, appropriately influencing in areas of expertise, and negotiating acceptable resolutions aligned with business needs.

• Maintain approved supplier list and oversee the process for approving new suppliers.  Manage relationships and interface with suppliers throughout negotiations, supply delivery schedules, and execution.

• Review and approve invoices to validate appropriate documentation associated with equipment deliveries.

• Establish and maintain accurate forecasting tools to effectively contribute to financial modeling and RFP submissions.

• Own procurement-related documentation, contracts, budgets, schedules, engineering and construction interfaces, project controls, and project reporting.  Track all procurement initiatives and report out on a weekly and monthly cadence.

• Responsible to assess, build, and develop internal procurement team to meet organizational needs.

• Operate cross-functionally in a business partnership capacity and liaise with other departments (i.e., development, finance, engineering, construction).

QUALIFICATIONS: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, etc.)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Construction Management or Supply Chain Management or equivalent

• 5+ years’ experience with global supply chain management and custom contract negotiation (solar and battery storage experience preferred) included in 8+ years’ experience related to business operations, engineering, construction management, or industry manufacturing

• Thorough knowledge of the competitive bid process, excellent negotiation skills, and experience with supply chain accountability and post-delivery documentation validation for invoicing

• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills; ability to quickly identify challenges and clearly articulate creative, practical solutions

• Superior communication and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain highly-effective and collaborative relationships

• Leadership skills and ability spearhead procurement initiatives from conception to implementation

• Knowledge of commonly used procurement contracting methods and contract types relating to the performance of pre-award, post-award, and/or contract price/cost analysis functions

• Strong critical thinking and analysis skills

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software

• Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage competing deadlines or projects

• Committed team player with the ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships

• Flexibility conducive to a fast-paced, growing company environment

• Additional language capability helpful (ie, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Hebrew)

PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (physical, environmental, travel, etc.)

• Ability to work in office setting; primarily sedentary; use of normal office machines

• Availability to work additional hours or weekends as projects demand

• Ability to travel required; international travel anticipated on a bi-annual basis
