Land Acquisition Specialist

The Land Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for (a) identifying property locations that meet the company's requirements and strategic growth plan and (b) negotiating the purchase or lease terms for the acquisition of the same.


  • Identify, research, and present potential on and off-market project opportunities and negotiate acquisition terms
  • Generate acquisition opportunities in the assigned markets by developing trusted relationships with industry contacts, including brokers, developers, and owners
  • Research and determine whether the intended use is allowed or attainable under local law
  • Collaborate with the in-house development team to determine site feasibility
  • Work closely with Land Management team to negotiate, draft, and review agreements; including purchase options, lease options, lease agreements, transmission lines, access roads, and right of way easements
  • Participate in due diligence, zoning, and land planning process. Potential to coordinate with consultants and principals regarding same
  • Assist Land Management department in title curative corrections with landowners
  • Advise management of pertinent matters related to ownership of leases
  • Be proactive in determining effective negotiating tactics and strategies, finding and developing prospective opportunities for our participation and improving operating efficiencies and productivity
  • Serve as initial point of contact for Clenera’s Project Development team, perform office support duties, and facilitate office productivity
  • Assist in coordination of landowner meetings, or other events related to projects development and community outreach
  • Accurately update all systems as determined by the department’s needs
  • Effectively communicate with management using an easily understood format as well as attend, prepare for and schedule meetings as necessary
  • Additional duties as determined by supervisor


  • Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Business Administration, Real Estate, Land Management, Finance, or other related degree.
  • 2+ years related experience in land acquisition or development
  • Knowledge and experience of land use, zoning process, and use permit applications a plus
  • Strong negotiation and organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage competing deadlines or projects
  • Committed team player with the ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships
  • Flexibility conducive to a fast-paced, growing company environment


  • Ability to work in office setting; primarily sedentary; use of normal office machines
  • Availability to work additional hours or weekends as projects demand
